That being said, I’m not sure where summer went, but the date on the calendar tells me it’s nearly over. I hope y’all got in more vacation and time by the pool than I did. This week, there’s a slew of new restaurants opening up, no doubt in anticipation for fall.

Bethesda Row, the charming shopping destination, is playing ’80s classics every Tuesday in August with its ’80s Movies Under the Stars. Movies are free of charge and begin at dusk (around 8:45pm). This week, it’s Pretty in Pink, the 1986 flick starring Molly Ringwald, Jon Cryer, and Harry Dean Stanton. Bethesda Row restaurant Redwood is offering special Pretty in Pink themed cuisine including, Pretty in Pink popcorn, salmon rillettes, and raspberry mousse. Drink specials are pink as well: you must wear pink to get cosmos and sparking rose for $5 all night.
Wednesday
Feeling exhausted? Get your mid- week protein fix. Chicago-based PROTEIN BAR opens a DC output today. With a high protein, nutrition-rich and healthy carb menu, PROTEIN BAR ‘s menu bosts customizable high-protein blended drinks, bowls, chili, soups, salads, and its signature PROTEIN BAR-RITOs. Why not have date night on H Street? Le Grenier, a French bistro by the folks behind Le Chat Noir, opened last week. Like BBQ? Like vino? Head out to Columbia Pike and close out the summer with the First Annual Backyard BBQ and Bash. It’s a backyard BBQ themed wine tasting with 18 wines from around the world and food catered by Backyard BBQ & Catering Company. The proceeds benefit the Columbia Pike Revitalization Organization, a non-profit with a mission that’s obvious from the name. 4-10 p.m., Twisted Vines Bottleshop & Bistro, 2803 Columbia Pike, Arlington, V.A.
