Cori Sue went off to some far-flung foreign country for two weeks, so Becca’s driving the Bitch Bus. That means the “This Week” posts for the next few weeks are going to be things that I would actually do. Sorry, cupcakeries and things-that-involve-puppies, here’s what’s on my calendar this week …
Monday: Stuff Your Face
If, for some reason, you live under a rock and haven’t heard from EVERYONE ON FACEBOOK, it’s DC Restaurant Week. For me, this means racking up the OpenTable points with itty-bitty entrees and overpriced wine (why isn’t wine included in the prix fix?!). Alas, there are some foodie steals to be found. Three-course dinners, even at the fanciestpants of places, are $35.10. And don’t forget that restaurant week also applies to lunch (good for us downtown worker bees), at $20.10. See the full list here, and good luck finding open reservations if you’ve waited this long.
Tuesday: Shop Like Anna Wintour
I am a magazine junkie (I have an excuse; I’m in the biz), so I totally RAN to the theater when The September Issue came out. Tomorrow, CityShopGirl (loaf her) and Bethesda Row are hosting an outdoor screening of the movie, with champagne, treats, and 15% off clothes at the Urban Chic boutique. Get there at 7pm, but RSVP to [email protected] TODAY to get VIP seating (tell her tha Bitches sent cha).
Wednesday: Be a Reggae Star
DC’s very own reggae stars, See-I, are back from their summer tour with Thievery Corporation. That means lead singers/brothers Zeebo and Rootz are stationed once again in their usual Wednesday-night spot on stage at Eighteenth Street Lounge. The Rockers International night has been going strong for over four years, and with ESL’s newly renovated back room, the party has just gotten bigger and better. If you can’t take the heat, a regular crew of talented DJs will be spinning in the main room. No cover before 10. This is my Wednesday night staple.
Friday: Bust Out the Fannypack
I love ReadySetDC parties. They’re always kind of random – with random people and for random reasons. But, it makes for an eclectic evening. Their next one is this Friday, and we’re instructed to “prepare your fanny pack” because they’ll be announcing the winner of their DC Tourist T-shirt contest. Did you vote? I voted for the one below, because it’s the truth, and because I would totally wear that. The party this week is at District, and you have to throw down a fiver and RSVP here to get on the list.
Saturday: Get Crabs
I’ll be at CrabFest with “Admiral Badass and the Champion Scallywags” (this is actually what we put in our group registration). We’re also bringing a vuvuzela … Yes, we’ll be THAT group. And we’re so ready to start crackin’ crabs and drinking specialty beers. The people that brought the Beer, Bourbon, and BBQ festival to National Harbor (which was way fun, by the way) are hosting “the crabbiest day of summer.” Designated drivers get discounts.
