It’s spring in Washington, and that means patios are opening, farmers markets are setting up, and calendars are getting packed. We hope your week is stellar.


It’s Spring Restaurant Week at Bethesda Row. Thirteen of the area’s restaurants, including the new Vino Volo and Robert Wiedmaier’s Mussel Bar & Grille, will be participating this year and offering patrons $15 three-course lunches and $30 three-course dinners. It’s beautiful outside! Time for a patio happy hour. Chez Billy is celebrating its one-year anniversary with a party on its new patio. The first signs of spring herald the return of FRESHFARM Markets’ producer-only farmers markets to communities across the D.C. region. The season unfolds with the opening of the Foggy Bottom FRESHFARM Market on Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and the return to full-season hours for the Dupont Circle and Silver Spring FRESHFARM Markets. The remaining markets will open in April and early May.

The D.C. chapter of the LEVO League, an organization that mentors young women in their careers, is hosting a workshop Wednesday evening at Mercer. The topic? The downtown location of Nordstrom Rack will open its doors Thursday morning at 8 a.m. Get ready girls, the store opening will kick things off with music, breakfast treats, and more. Spring means Truckeroo is back! The monthly festival held April thru October at the corner of Half St. and M St. S.E. (Navy Yard-Ballpark) showcases food trucks from the Washington, D.C. area. There will be live music, cold drinks, plenty of picnic tables, cornhole, and other games, and, of course, food trucks. 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Friday evening is the biggest night of the year for The Corcoran. The museum will host its Corcoran Ball, a black-tie benefit for scholarships for the college, community outreach initiatives and education programs. Exhibitions will be on view all evening. 7 p.m. cocktails, 8:15 p.m. dinner and dancing. Get tickets here.

Head to Shirlington Village to check out the brand-new Copperwood Tavern, a woodsy retreat that replaces the former Bistro Bistro space. Irish Whiskey’s Executive Chef, Sean McIntosh, and designer Maggie O’Neill of O’Neill Studios, emphasized Copperwood Tavern’s rustic charm with a savory home-style food menu and designs that embody a welcoming backwoods feel. Twenty years ago, the first Jaleo tapas bar opened in Penn Quarter. Now, there are Jaleo locations across the United States. To celebrate the milestone, Quim Marques, chef and owner of El Suquet de l’Almirall in Barceloneta, Spain, will develop a selection special dishes and paellas to be featured at all three Washington-area Jaleo locations this week.
