The Lust List: Tough in Tweed

Sometimes, things you think will never be chic, tough or edgy will surprise you. Take tweed, for instance. It’s typically preppy or prissy—think Blair Waldorf.

Moreover, taking tweed and pairing a blazer and a skirt (read: excessive matching) is typically a faux paus. When I think of tweed head to toe, I think of Elle Woods (Legally Blonde, people).

But this fall, designers, who are going gaga over all things leather, have taken typical tailored tweed and added leather to the mix—providing some much-needed edge.

Should you not be ready to wear head-to-toe tweed in the office, you can still wear these skirts with tights and blouses, and the chic tweed blazers with skinny jeans or black pants and pumps. Incorporating one or both pieces into your closet will ensure that you’re on-point with two of fall’s key trends: leather and tweed.

I think a tweed-and-leather suit may be just what Washington’s power Bitches need, don’t you?
