The Lust List: Summer Swimwear

It’s finally summer and we’re feeling alive! If you had a chance to check out our June Fashion Menu, you already know that the Bitches are all about neon summer brights and bold metallics this season. I consider myself a bit of an emotional dresser, in that my clothing choices often reflect my mood, so these cheerful colors are sure to drive away any summertime sadness.

Like it or not, Memorial Day has come and gone, which means pools and beaches are officially open throughout the country. Although it is always handy to have a few solid-color bikinis in your closet (white and black go with everything), we’re coveting more avant-garde swimwear with numerous straps, asymmetrical cuts, and eye-catching patterns.

To avoid looking like a confused runway model, pick out one of these trends and complement it with more pared-down accessories. A simple kaftan and neutral sandals will balance out an extreme cut or pattern. Alternatively, throw on a pair of relaxed jean shorts over a one-piece or mid-length swimsuit top for a festival-inspired, laid back style.

Some of our favorite lines are Mara Hoffman’s eclectic patterns, Marysia’s scalloped edging, and Vix’s classic and ever-flattering triangle bikini tops. Affordable retailers like H&M and Forever21 offer a variety of swim basics that are cheaper than a poolside mojito.
