When it comes to being chic all summer long, there are a few things the Bitches have in their closet that we consider our absolute must-haves. The perfect wide brimmed beach hat, off-the-shoulder blouses to pair with cutoff shorts, gladiator sandals, and gold brimmed aviators are among our favorite pieces. And of course, no summer wardrobe is complete without classic, bold prints from Lilly Pulitzer.
Whether we’re escaping the hot New York heat by heading to The Hamptons for a weekend fete, enjoying poolside cocktails at the Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro on vacay, or spending summer exploring Chicago like I am, we are here to show you how we are styling our favorite looks from the Lilly Summer ’16 collection.
I might be stuck in the Windy City for most of summer, but I was totally feeling a “Miami Vice” vibe while rocking my Lilly look for an evening of patio cocktails with my girlfriends. Before heading out for drinks with my girlfriends, I knew I had to shoot this look in front of the new mural at the soon-to-be-open Flamingo Rum Club in River North. How cute and totally appropriate is this mural?
The Hilah Two Piece is a crop-top and flare skirt set, made with a mesh material. This outfit is light and comfortable, and allowed for the summer breeze to pass through while not showing too much skin. The mesh is a cool texture, different than most of the fabrics Lilly uses in the collection. Even my photographer was surprised to discover it was Lilly Pulitzer!
This print is unique to Lilly Pulitzer, in that it is more abstract and less repetitive than other standard Lilly Prints. If am ever in Miami and attending Art Basel, I might have to wear this again; it is a piece of art itself.
In keeping with my Miami vibe, I paired my look with nude Feliz stilettos from Steve Madden and hot pink and nude, angular cat-eye sunnies from Kate Spade. You can break up the ensemble and wear the pieces separately, as I did by pairing the top with white shorts to Lollapalooza, and the skirt with an off-the-shoulder baby blue blouse. I love being able to mix and match pieces!
HBIC Cori Sue spent the first part of summer traveling around South America, starting off with a wedding in Brazil. Always one to travel in style, Cori Sue hit up the Lilly Pulitzer store in Washington, D.C. before her flight abroad to stock up on the perfect outfit and accessories for wedding festivities.
The poolside bar and cabanas at the Belmond Copacabana hotel in Copacobana Beach Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, arguably one of the most famous hotels in the world, was the perfect backdrop for this Lilly ensemble. With hues of hot pinks, lime greens, and bright blues, the strapless Daisy Romper (Ritz Strapless Romper, similar) was the perfect piece to wear for pre-wedding cocktails at the hotel.
We are loving the pom pom detailing on the seams of the romper, leading all the way up to the waistline. This light romper was perfect for feeling comfortable while dressing up for cocktail hour. To keep cool from the breeze, Cori Sue added a teal shawl. For a little bit of bling, she rocked the Kendra Scott Rayne Necklace in turquoise, but the romper’s print is statement enough itself that minimal accessories are needed.
Another summer staple from Lilly Pulitzer that we are loving this summer? The Boho Wristlet Clutch, which tied the entire look together. This stunning wristlet purse is the ideal accessory to keep your immediate necessities on hand (lip balm, perfume, and cash to tip your favorite bartender) while still being easy to carry around.
Both Cori Sue and Emily traveled with their pineapple tumblers from W & P Designs—because who doesn’t love drinking a summer cocktail out of a travel-sized pineapple? It dresses up both our summer attire and our bar carts.
New York Editor Emily took her #summerinlilly look to The Hamptons, rocking the Selina Set two piece in Pink Sun Ray Summer Siren from the Summer ’16 collection. We are absolutely loving the new ways you can wear Lilly, and summer cropped two pieces are no exception. This hot pink and sky blue combo match Emily’s summer tan.
Emily accessorized her look with a GiGi New York Cross body bag, monogrammed of course, to reflect her new initials since getting married in April.
What is probably loved by most about Lilly Pulitzer are the timeless prints that can always take you back to a summer mindset regardless of the season. The Summer ’16 Lilly Collection is our favorite to date, thanks to modern silhouettes and a mix of new, trendy prints and our old favorites.
