I must confess, I’m addicted to monochrome. There’s just something so simple and chic about a black-and-white ensemble. You can be beautifully put together, yet effortless. And that’s what I strive to be. I want to look stylish—but I don’t have a lot of time to spare and I also wouldn’t spend the hours if I had them.
My routine: brush the teeth, wash the face, SPF, flip the hair, spray some drybar texturizing spray, put on mascara and lipstick (and a LOT of under-eye concealer). Go for a go-to outfit with my favorite accessories (lately: my Hyla DeWitt statement necklace and color block heels from Nordstrom Rack.)
While I typically opt for brighter shades come spring, I didn’t phase out my monochrome addiction this summer. In fact, it only became more pronounced. I also didn’t phase out leather, a winter staple that’s usually eschewed for lighter fabrics as the temperatures rise.
It seems I have my look down—and that look contains two shades.
When your closet is filled with black-and-white, it’s incredibly easy to pack, as all your accessories coordinate. On a recent trip to Philadelphia, I packed solely black and white, which allowed me to pack light—only two pairs of shoes, one handbag, and one set of jewelry.
I’m completely obsessed with accessories from our Bitches shop, as we feature women-owned brands like Sophie Blake, Hyla DeWitt, and Matine, who produce beautiful, high-quality and affordable pieces in D.C. and North Carolina.
