The Lust List: Summer Mixed Prints

I’ve officially reached that point in the summer where I’m sick of my seasonal wardrobe, but it seems silly to buy more summer pieces as stores are stocking up for fall. I have overworn all of my maxi dresses, distressed denim shorts, festive rompers, and crop tops, and was in some serious need of a pick me up.

Inspiration struck after Devon Baer sent me this adorable silk top in this season’s hot pattern–palm print. Pairing it with white jeans or traditional denim just seemed too expected. My high-waisted striped shorts tumbled out of my overpacked, tiny closet and a refreshed outfit was born.

Mixing patterns is by no means a novel concept, but we love giving it a summery twist with seasonal palm, floral, or Ikat prints. The key to keeping it from looking too chaotic is to stick to a complementary color palate and to neutralize the look with black and white.

Stripes and polka dots will never go out of style and are Bitch staples. We recommend investing in a monochromatic striped top, a classic striped pencil skirt, and a polka dot blouse, all of which can be layered throughout the year.

Keep accessories minimal to avoid clashing with your aggressive apparel. We’ve been loving the simple baubles¬†like these rectangular bar earrings by Sophie Blake¬†or these Lisi Lerch button studs.
