The Lust List: Summer Jumpsuits

Jumpsuits are the power suit of 2016. As mentioned in our recent summer workwear feature with MM.LaFleur, I’m lucky enough to work in a creative agency by day that doesn’t necessitate a separate work wardrobe. However, for a big presentation or meeting, I like to sass it up #GirlBoss style. Enter the jumpsuit.

Jumpsuits can be polished enough to own the room in the workplace and best of all, you don’t have to worry about coordinating tops and bottoms. Just throw on some jewelry stacks and some funky shoes and you have yourself an easy, peasy outfit on-the-go.

We’re loving a summer spin on the classic jumpsuit silhouette with lightweight, breathable fabrics like cotton and linen. This navy knit one-piece by Zara, pictured, is my go-to because I never have to worry about wrinkles. I’m also lusting over culotte-cut jumpers in neutral shades like blush and gray and casual denim styles. We’ve also seen a variety of styles with girly embellishments like exaggerated ruffles, lace overlays, and pom pom tassels crop up this season.

The mock neck on this jumpsuit gives a professional vibe, but there are plenty of playful styles that are NSFW. The full length pants on a jumpsuit balance out sexy cut outs on top and neutralize a bold pattern – we’re loving seasonal palm fronts, tropical flowers, and large pastel plaids. Keep the accessories simple when experimenting with patterns; you can’t go wrong with a nude lace up flat or a classic crossbody satchel.
