I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect leopard coat for three seasons.
Leopard coats are tricky, because faux fur and prints are tricky. If the fur looks cheap and the print is wrong, you’ll look like a hooker instead of a stylish city gal. And the only woman who can make the hooker look work is Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. Regardless of how special you may be, she remains the only exception to that rule.
Generally, I’m quite particular about my prints (stripes, polka dots, and florals must be done a certain way) and the cut of my clothing—it needs to fit well, with the proper cut. I’ll search high and low for the right piece—and then even have it tailored accordingly.
I’ve continued my hunt, searching online, visiting boutiques, and pillaging through the throngs of women and piles of clothing at Zara, but my prey has alluded me. Until now.
Enter: the most perfect leopard overcoat by Rebecca Minkoff. This grey-and-black subtly of the leopard print makes it almost a neutral, and means it pairs with my winter palette of grey, black, burgundy, and cream tones beautifully. It matches my brand new Stuart Weitzman over-the-knee boots, which made me oh-so-happy that I made the purchase.
Most importantly, the cut of the coat, an oversized menswear coat, is flattering and chic, and the wool texture avoids the faux fur conundrum all together. It’s perfect.
On that note, please mark your calendars and plan to join us for the launch of the spring Rebecca Minkoff collection with a viewing party at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, at the location in 106 E Oak St, Chicago, IL.
Not one to let my Bitches down, I’ve pulled together some Bitch-approved overcoats in this classic print.
Leopard coats can be dressed up or down, paired with denim, black pants, or worn over a neutral sweater dress. The daring Bitches could pair it with a printed blouse or frock—just be careful what print you select.
