The Lust List: Snakeskin and Silk

I whole-heartedly believe that fashion is a form of art: clear-cut self-expression in beauty and form. Therefore, I believe in curating your wardrobe the way a gallery owner or art collector collects and curates the art on their walls.

Your wardrobe should have staples: white tanks, skinny jeans, nude pumps, brown belts, gold accessories. Your wardrobe should have investment pieces: a trench coat, a LBD, a pencil skirt, etc. Then, there’s the combination of the two, staples you should invest in: silk blouses, shift dresses to take you from work-to-play, a few nice, season-less cocktail dresses, and the like.

Once you’ve covered all the bases, you can invest in “new art” to add some flair—a unique silk scarf, a fun printed dress, and other things that you really love—and snazz things up a bit.

I’m a big fan of the silk blouse, which I wear tucked in to pencil skirts or skinny trousers (I like the J.Crew Minnie) with closed-toed pumps for work. On the weekends, I’ll tuck them in to a pair of skinny jeans or shorts—maybe a lace or printed pair—with some strappy sandals for a night out.

The simple yet chic blouses can be worn with a variety of jewelry—from simple to statement—allowing me to mix-and-match loads of jewelry for a variety of looks.

Now that I’ve picked up a few solid silk blouses in key colors—white, pink, black, army green—it’s time for me to start looking at what there is in the way of patterns. And, it appears that polka dots and snakeskin have become the key prints for fall. And, they’re being worn as if they were a neutral or solid blouse. Here are some sleek, stunning blouses for you to add to your art collection … I mean, wardrobe.

  1. Hey Cori Sue, love you guys!!

Un question… What options do you have for gals with tatas?? I am an athletically built lady with a 36D chest. I bought a silk shirt in April or May and felt like the church lady which perpetuated what I know…. You will either look outdated or somewhat butchish!!!

What do you recommend Madame?? Merci!!!
