This winter season is really throwing us through a loop, huh? First, record breaking lows and then a patch of random “warm” weather here on the East Coast. It’s made it an interesting season to dress for; our wardrobes are in utter confusion.
We’re loving cutouts to meet the fickle Mother Nature in the middle. They are a great way to bundle up, but still have some breathability and show a touch of skin. A well-placed peek of skin is sassy, but classy, leaving something to the imagination.
The cutout trend is made seasonally appropriate with our favorite winter fabrics and tones. We’re particularly lusting for cut out numbers in cozy knits, tweed, and sharp jackets in deep colors like hunter green, grays, and navy. Bonus points if black watch plaid in involved.
Emily’s little blue number is versatile, easily taking her from the office to a dinner date with her fiancé. She can throw on this chic cape to keep her look work appropriate and just as easily slip out of it and add a dramatic red lip for a night out on the town.
Best of all, most cut out pieces can transition into spring with the addition of some white denim or a punchy skirt. After “KonMari”-ing our apartments, we’re all about maximizing what we have from season to season.
Below is a selection of our favorite cutout numbers on our Lust List.
