The Lust List: Rustic Winter Accessories

It’s no secret that we are Bitches on the go. Between all holding full-time, high pressure jobs, managing the website, brunching, balancing brunch carbs with boutique fitness, and squeezing in some time with loved ones, we’re rarely in one place for too long. Especially for the New York Bitches, it’s impractical to have a car, so we brave the wind chill and load on the layers to stay toasty from point A to point B.

One of our favorite winter looks is rustic winter accessories. Thick cableknits, cozy faux fur, and oversized buffalo plaid are classic and timeless, and can be repurposed with years of wear. The rustic look reminds us of fond memories spent apres ski out West, even if the furthest west we are going is on the 8th Avenue L train.

Bitch in the City Emily updated her rustic winter staples with on-trend shearling trim on her plush trapper hat. She balances current trends with an iconic Barbour jacket and warm sweater. Add some soft mittens and a hot latte and you’re good to go.

She also layered a muted faux fur vest for practical warmth and to turn up the heat on her overall look. The sandy fur complements the shearling hat and adds an interesting textural element to her outfit. We also love a pop of faux fur to trim mittens, ear muffs, or as an infinity scarf for a luxe touch.

One of my seasonal standbys is an oversized blanket scarf. I wrap my body in a Zara blanket scarf from last year almost every day, but Target currently offers a similar style for a mere $17. I also love the classic red and black buffalo plaid option currently available at Madewell and this neutral, oversized scarf from ASOS.
