It’s no secret that the Bitches have always been fans of Rebecca Minkoff and her line, from awesome bags to gorgeous dresses. Me personally? I have been a loyal Rebecca Minkoff outerwear enthusiast for many years. From a classic winter capes and coats, to my small but awesome leather jacket collection. I just love the chic, timeless pieces she creates. Plus, her brand has great outerwear—a plus considering we require jackets and coats the majority of the year here in Chicago.
As soon as we partnered with Rebecca Minkoff for this event, I knew I had to get some sort of fabulous jacket. As Allison relayed in her last fashion post, while it is still winter here in Chicago, we’re definitely looking ahead to spring. I was dying for the perfect leather jacket that would transition from winter to spring, and it was no surprise Rebecca Minkoff had some great ones to chose from.
In my closet, I have a cropped Rebecca Minkoff Leather jacket, so I was really hoping that I would find a looser, every day jacket. As luck would have it, there was this Brutus jacket online. As opposed to the more form fitting, shorter leather jackets that Minkoff debuts every year, this one was much more masculine and heavy, which is exactly what I wanted. With large lapels, and fringe detailing, this jacket has the makings of a perfect biker girl jacket.
Anyone who sees me out and about won’t be surprised to find me in all black— it’s the most prominent color in my wardrobe. Which is why couldn’t wait to pair my new leather jacket with a pair of skinny black ripped jeans and black booties. It’s a huge benefit as the weather is so hit or miss in Chicago these days; one day it could be sunny and 60 degrees, and the next day there’s hail, snow and temperatures in the teens. Even in rainy weather, this thick jacket is just so comfortable and easy to wear.
What I love most about this Brutus jacket is that it is not the typical, form-fitting leather jacket. As opposed to my cropped RM leather jacket at home, that I refer to more as an “indoor jacket”, this jacket is totally wearable outside in chilly temperatures. And in warmer spring weather, paired with a cute mini dress, this jacket is the masculine compliment to add a little ruggedness to any look.
