I’ve spent the majority of my summer living out of a suitcase. Before you judge me, I’ll say that we have been at our apartment for a total of three weekends since Memorial Day. By the time we get home and do laundry, the clothes go right back into said suitcase for the next excursion. The summer struggle is real, people. But, don’t misinterpret this as me complaining! I’m simply prefacing the fact that most of my weekend outfits are a result of this self-talk: “What is cute, travels well, and requires minimal effort?”
Enter the one-piece bathing suit, or as I fondly call it: my summer bodysuit. I’ve relied on a rotation of several variations this summer, like this Solid and Striped version, to take me from the pool, to a late afternoon cocktail, to a quick shopping trip, or dinner al fresco. Pair it with a denim skirt or shorts and a cute hat and you’re out the door before your bathing suit even has time to dry.
Knowing that come July I would be craving a pair of shoes that could take me from a Nats game to a pool party, I scoured the interwebs for a fun pair of sneakers that would stand-out, but also pair well with most of my summer attire. While gingham sneakers are definitely a bolder choice, I love that they add a playful, vintage vibe to jeans shorts or a mid-length work dress. My husband also noted they make for good camouflage when we go on a picnic.
Round bags are having a serious moment. I have worn this Clare V. round straw bag almost every warm weekend since it was gifted to me last summer for my bridal shower. It was the perfect tote for our Amalfi coast honeymoon, but also serves as an functional, adorable bag for the farmers market or the beach.
You really can find any shirt trend you are looking for in a one piece bathing suit. I’ve seen ruffles, one shoulder, off-the-shoulder, you name it. Frankly, I don’t know how people even swim in these things! So, get creative with you summer fashion and slip into one of these fun one piece suits below–even if they never touch water all summer long!
