If you follow me on Instagram, you might notice I travel a lot—and I also have quite an affinity for monochrome. (My entire apartment—and my Maltese Shih Tzu, Daisy—are black-and-white.) As I get older, and my travel and work schedules become increasingly more frenetic, I feel the need to simplify and streamline.
There have been plenty of closet-clean outs and a focus on whittling down my closet so that things actually go together. Gone are the days of frilly frocks that only match with one pair of shoes, which happen to be uncomfortable. If you’re looking to get rid of clothes and make some money, I highly recommend Poshmark. I’ve tried ThredUp, the Real Real, Material World, eBay, and classic consignment—and Poshmark is the easiest and most efficient way to make money off your old clothes. Plus, it’s like a social network! But, I digress.
I’ve been hopping between New York and Washington—and I need outfits that will look sleek for client meetings, date nights, and events in both cities. So black is the natural solution—paired with a cute rolling carry-on (black-and-white, of course), my trusty Chanel 2.55. While I’m usually in high-end athleisure, there are times I need to look presentable, and cute athleisure, or a black V-neck and denim don’t cut it. In keeping with the black, white, and denim color palette, I’ve turned to textured minis.
Cute wool minis pack easily and pair well with a long-sleeve black tee, black tights, gold or white jewelry, and my trusty Stuart Weitzman flat boots, which are absolutely worth the investment. These boots are comfortable, flattering and they pair with everything—no achy back at the end of the day! Speaking of which, Sock Tights are your best friend come winter—these tights have a far thicker texture around the foot (like a sock) which make them perfect in winter or to wear with booties.
