The Lust List: Maxi Pleated Skirts

Whoever said ankle-length skirts aren’t sexy was clearly mistaken. The floor-length pleated maxi skirts worn by models on the Spring 2012 runway collections were simply stunning and surprisingly versatile.

As you may know, we’ve lusted after maxi skirts, blush tones, and pleats before; but never all at once, oh my!

These beautiful maxi skirts, below, swoosh and swirl with your every move, creating a look that’s delicate, airy, glamorous and feminine. For a night out, add a blouse (black, grey, fuchsia or a similar blush tone) and open-toed sandals. For day, wear espadrilles or sandals, a solid-colored tank top and a sun hat or long necklace. For a more trendy work ensemble, add a white button-down, brown belt and pumps. A chambray button down would look great with these nude skirts for all of the above.

I picked up the third piece last month at Zara, and I absolutely love it. Last week, I sashayed through the café lined streets of San Telmo in my nude maxi skirt, paired with a black tank top, Grecian rope sandals and a Colombian Panama hat. I felt both International and glamorous—yet comfortable and relaxed. It’s definitely my favorite new addition to the wardrobe.
