Recently, my fiancé Christopher, arrived at my sister’s to pick me up on a vintage Kawasaki motorcycle that he gifted himself as an early birthday present. I said to him “Absolutely not,” and was certain I’d have to destroy the dangerous contraption immediately to ensure he never rides it again. That was until I took a ride. His bike is old and provides an easy ride, and with the comfort of helmets, I discovered I had an inner biker chick.
Honestly, it’s not that hard not to watch “Sons of Anarchy” and think that bikes are cool, or frankly that anything Charlie Hunnam does is cool. With that being said, I decided to embrace my new biker chick and everything that comes with it— biker boots, cool shades, and—of course—leather jackets.
Of the fall staples, my favorite is easily the leather jacket. Classic and contemporary, if you find the “one,” well it pairs well with just about anything. You can dress it up easily, but look effortlessly chic while wearing it with basics; something we really can appreciate. This season, I’ve found myself pairing my leather jacket all too often with stripes, and am loving it. The texture of the leather jacket, contrasted with horizontal or vertical stripes, is the perfect match.
Stripes are often a love or loathe situation when it comes to wearing them as a staple. We have found that while some horizontal stripes can make one look wider in appearance, when you find thin stripes horizontally, it bodes well. Stripes are a great backdrop for other elements to the outfit, like a statement necklace, colorful blazer, or a classic leather jacket.
To stay on trend with my biker look, I paired my outfit with basic black jeans, and some sleek- yet-comfortable leather flat boots with a side zip, and a basic cross-body moto bag.
