While August is coming to an end, I am still grasping onto every bit of summer just as long as I can. Even as the weather starts to cool down, I’m still not quite ready to pack away some of my favorite summer staples: white jeans, off-the-shoulder tops, body suits, bikinis, and strappy heels. In efforts to stay summer chic while the season is still here, I am finding myself pairing cute print tops with my white jeans often. It’s a look that doesn’t get old, until it’s cold, I say. Whoever said you can’t wear white after Labor Day was right….about twenty years ago. Now we are seeing fall and winter whites every year, and they look fabulous, which means we aren’t putting away our favorite white denim anytime soon. Whether paired with sexy heels in summer, or cute booties in fall, white denim is always in season.
My current song of the moment is “Havana” by Camila Cabello; it’s the perfect song for summer 2017. It has lit a fire inside of me that wants to embrace my inner Cubana. I have always loved the fashion and inspiration that comes from Cuba; the fedoras, bright colors, floral prints, ruffles, head scarfs, and flamboyant dresses. When I saw this black and white floral print top, I knew I had to have it in my wardrobe. With lace details, large floral prints, and off-the-shoulder silhouette, this top is everything. The heat is still here in Chicago, and I am turning things up with this sexy top. I love the way the top moves and shakes as you walk, just like I do when the song comes on— although I must profess that I am a terrible dancer, and do not do Camilla justice!
I paired the flamboyant top with simple gold hoops and minimal accessories. The ensemble is perfect for a day-to-evening outfit: jetting from a long day of work meetings, to a date night with the hubby. I used to think I couldn’t pull off hoop earrings, but with my recent addition of many off-the-shoulder and one sleeve tops in my wardrobe, I have discovered that they are the perfect accent. The earrings fall just above your neckline, and accentuate your collarbone, which ya gotta love.
Throw on a cute cross-body satchel with a pop of color, as I did with this blue N’damus French leather saddlebag. The spacious shape and interior pocket ensure it’s roomy enough for all of your must-haves essentials, like lipstick and your cell phone. The shoulder strap can easily adjust to a hands-free crossbody; it is an timeless piece that will complement your everyday style with an air of effortless chic. Add on a pair of black strappy heels, and you are ready to go! Shop this look and our favorite Havana-inspired looks below!
