The Lust List: Fringe Moment

There are few things that I like more than a good embellishment. Okay, fine — Whispering Angel rosé, dark chocolate, puppies, and a great Biggie mash-up, but a funky embellishment always catches my eye on my walk home through SoHo. I’m digging jewels, sequins, patchwork, and more, but the embellishment of the summer is undoubtedly fringe.

I think fringe started making its mainstream comeback in April for Coachella season and I don’t hate the fact that it has stuck around. We’ve seen leather, suede, and macrame versions adorned on everything from shoes to skirts. It adds an interesting element of texture and movement to an otherwise ordinary piece.

To dip your toes in this bohemian trend, take some fringed flat sandals or booties for a test drive. Brown or black leather will go with everything or experiment with a bright coral or teal hue to celebrate the summer season.

This easy, breezy two piece set from Zara is lightweight and versatile, showing a little bit of skin with a slight crop top. I’ve worn this ensemble everywhere from concerts to brunch, of course. Throw on some heels, like these comfy, neutral Sole Society wedges for night or some stark white tennies (Cori Sue and I are obsessed with adidas Superstars) for day.

I paired this neutral two-piece set with some stand out jewelry pieces from Hyla DeWitt and Kendra Scott. We love supporting fellow female entrepreneurs and both of these ladies have made a name for themselves in the industry. A few chunky baubles are all you need to complete the look; we’re currently lusting after stackable strand necklaces, costume-y link necklaces, and unique ear crawlers.
