Even a month after Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” came out, I am still shamelessly obsessed with the song. And the video. And her total take down of the celebs who have stood in her way over the last year. (Ahem, Katy, Kanye, and Kim). You go Taylor.
On a recent trip to Vancouver, British Columbia, with my husband and his four brothers to visit my in-laws, I needed a break and a shopping excursion away from the family time. I headed to Zara in hopes of scoring some cool fall finds. When I came across this graphic sweater reading “Follow Your Karma” I instantly thought of Taylor’s line from the song… “not for me, not for me, all I think about is karma.” I knew I had to have this sweater.
Karma can be a Bitch, but this Bitch had good karma on my trip to Zara. Proud of my first find, I kept up my momentum. When I came across some cute platform flower slip-on’s, I was just giddy. I love the idea of platform shoes, both slip-on sneakers and dressy sky-highs. As I am tall, I haven’t felt that platforms work for my body. But, these slip-ons are only about an inch-and-a-half high, making them the perfect height for anyone, regardless of your height.
The detailing on these shoes is awesome. Plain black slip-on’s are totally wardrobe staples, but floral petal details are just so very cute. These slides are the perfect everyday sneaker to pair with jeans, leggings, or a denim skirt. I also love pairing them with a black slip dress over top of a tee shirt.
My last find at Zara was pretty basic, but then again you can never have enough skinny jeans. And, when it comes to fall, black skinny jeans are a staple. I like these because they aren’t exactly jet black and are kinda distressed, making them cute for a simple everyday casual look.
The jeans are a little shorter than the ones that I typically wear, but paired with my new platform shoes, they work perfectly. They don’t come down past the ankle, showing a little bit of skin between the shoes and the cut of the jeans. It actually think it elongates the body, which is always good in my book. Additionally, the jeans are high-waited, which I love. They are great to tuck in a cute blouse with or wear with a body suit.
A good fall bag is always necessary come autumn. When I stumbled upon this bag I loved the fact that it had both a long strap to become a crossbody, but it also had handles to carry loosely on your arm. The real kicker? It’s reversible! You can wear it in the deep brown color, or you can reverse it to have it be all black, and tuck the brown straps inside. It’s ideal and literally works with everything.
My final (and favorite!) fall accessory is something that I honestly am obsessed with: the cabby hat. I have been seeing this on my favorite “it” girls for sometime (hi Hadid girls!), and I took a risk unusual for me and got one. I must admit that I have kinda been wearing this cap everywhere; I really love it. So much that my sister has told me to cut back on wearing it with every outfit, but I could care less.
It’s so cute and much more stylish, in my opinion, than a regular baseball cap. It isn’t too outside the box, though it is definitely a “look” right now. I am in love with this trend and I think it is the perfect accessory to add some flare to your fall staples. Don’t be afraid to try it!
