I describe my style as all-American girl with a playful, feminine irreverence. I want clothes that fit, wear well, and move seamlessly through life’s varied and various functions and requirements. To me, that means good, well-fitting denim and basics, plus plenty of accessories, and certain recurring themes.
I love MadeWell, Paige, Current Elliott and Levi’s for my denim shorts and my skinny jeans—but I thought I’d switch it up with a pair of classic overalls. Perhaps I’m not-so-subconsciously trying to prolong my long-gone adolescence, but overalls, or denim shorts, and sneakers just work. I feel cute, comfortable and functional—so many pockets! Now I know how men feel—but I don’t have to bear the shame of cargo shorts.
I paired my denim overalls with a monochrome look in an effort to mature the ensemble just a bit. The black-and-white striped bodysuit is super flattering, comfortable, and goes well under the overalls. So far I’ve wore it with jean overalls, jean shorts, jeans, white jean shorts, white lace shorts—you get the picture. Gotta love a good bodysuit.
My black-and-white bandana and striped Baublebar drop earrings pulled the look together with my token irreverence and penchant for monochrome. Because I love having a few signature details.
Last but not least, I snagged this “All of the Things” tote from Chez Gagne, a letterpress stationary brand run out of LA by a girl boss friend of mine, Alex. She makes the funniest greeting cards and wine tags, and recently expanded the brand into candles and tote bags. Her cards and totes constantly make me laugh, but are also spot on for gifts. I snagged a “I like to shop, a lot” tote for my Mom and sent my boyfriend a “You’re my favorite human” card for no reason.
