The Lust List: Clever Graphic Tees

Why wear your heart on your sleeve when you can make a hilarious statement across your chest?

You can tell just by walking down the street that graphic statement pieces are having a moment. Everything from tees, tanks, sweatshirts, even phone cases are emblazoned with puns and pop culture references.

To our delight, food puns are everywhere, particularly those of the brunch variety. Some personal favorites are “Brunch, Please,” “Doses & Mimosas,” and “Death Before Decaf.” Spoiler alert: our very own Bitch-isms are coming soon to the Bitch Shop!

Two of my favorite statement lines are from Private Party and Bow & Drape. I was first introduced to Private Party after spotting an awesome CHAMPAGNE CAMPAIGN sweatshirt, but I couldn’t justify paying $80 so I decided to make it myself. After a few glasses of wine I whipped out the iron-on letters only to later realize I forgot the “g” in campaign…PSA: Don’t drink and DIY.

Since then, I’ve forked over the cash for some beloved tanks and sweats from Private Party. My latest obsession are the custom sweatshirts from Bow & Drape as seen on Carole from the Real Housewives of New York. She donned a “You Had Me at Merlot” short-sleeved sweatshirt; so perfect for the ladies of Bravo.

Bow & Drape offers a variety of pre-created fun sayings or you have the option to customize your own, including sequined letters and emoji patches. “2 Eggs Over Yeezy” combined two of my favorite interests, rap culture and brunch, so I knew this sweatshirt was the one for me.

My personal collection of graphic apparel, especially with rap references, is getting a little excessive. On any given day, I’ll have a “Don’t Drake and Drive” muscle tee in my gym bag or a BAE AREA crew neck layered under my winter puffer.

These tops always are a conversation starter and usually garner a few compliments on the street. I love being able to express my own personal style and interests so explicitly on my clothes.

Here are more of our favorite witty sayings on sweatshirts, tees, tanks, and more!
