The Fashion Menu: October

Happy October, Bitches! Tis the season for thicker scarves, floppy hats, and pumpkin-spiced everything as temperatures start to dip.

Although we’re embracing the cozy season, we’re admittedly feeling a little gray as the dog days of summer are officially long behind us. Thus, we’re gravitating towards (fifty shades) of gray and graphite this month.

Below are our top picks for our October Fashion Menu.

Sweater dresses are the perfect piece to transition from day to night and this grey turtleneck sweater dress by Moth is no exception.  It’s details of alternating knit makes it eye-catching while still being versatile.

DC editor Steph has had her eye on this comfy-chic tied t-shirt dress from Anthropologie, which is a great staple that can transition through seasons. The fabric could be layered up for the winter with tights and a long sleeve shirt, or paired down for a casual summer day with flip-flops and a hat. Also from Anthropologie, NYC Social Bitch Ann Louise has been eyeing this Imagist Tunic Dress ever since she saw it on the rack.  The neutral hues with hints of greys and graphite make this dress a quintessential piece for fall!

HBIC Cori Sue loves grey sweaters and grey sweater dresses for fall and winter—she only has about a dozen. They’re easy to accessorize, comfortable, and flattering. She’ll be adding a few more—like this one and this one—from shopbop’s friends and family sale this week. Plus a faux fur vest from BB Dakota.

The wind is picking up and most days you need some sort of jacket in Chicago and our editor, Allison, is loving this grey faux suede moto jacket by Jack for BB Dakota. It’s light enough to not feel too bundled up but keeps you just warm enough!

DC Social Bitch Annie already retired her white jeans for the season, but loves distressed gray jeggings to add a casual touch to any outfit this fall.

Chicago Social Bitch Amber’s always a fan of a good fall plaid, hence why she loves this Parker blazer with faux leather collar and bold grey print.

NYC editor Ally lives in turtlenecks this time of year and can’t wait to stock her closet with oversized knits. She plans to pair this slouchy ribbed turtleneck by Madewell with leather skinnies or pencil skirts this season.

Steph purchased light grey suede peep toe booties at our Fall Brunch Fest from South Moon Under and hasn’t taken them off since. The light grey and slouchy style goes with everything.

Amber loves the chunky, comfortable heel on the Adele Suede Ankle Boots from J.Crew. Plus, the heron grey hue will pair nicely with almost any fall look. Alexis will be rocking this chic booties for the rest of fall. Ideal for day to night transition, these H&M booties are both comfortable and stylish.

Ally has been embracing the “no-poo” anti-shampoo trend and is consequently rocking a lot of hats this season. She’s eying this chunky knitted beanie by Treasure & Bond, which marries fashion and function.

At long last, Cori Sue finally bought herself a shiny new Chanel, which goes with everything this fall and winter.

Our Chicago editor, Allison, has had her sights on getting a new bag and this versatile Rebecca Minkoff bag could be the winner! The high quality leather with adjustable length chain handle makes it the perfect piece to bring out during the day or night.

Annie will schlep all her stuff  through the winter in this cute gunmetal crossbody from Kate Spade

It’s officially scarf season in New York, and Ann Louise is loving this Charcoal Brushstroke scarf from J. Crew as her go-to fall accessory.

Dry skin during cold weather is the absolute WORST! That’s why Ann Louise swears by Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Gel. It takes care of those cold weather woes, while still feeling lightweight on your skin.

Gray doesn’t have to be boring. Annie loves the sparkle of this “arm candy” shade of nail polish from Butter London. Similarly, Ally is topping her digits with Chinchilly by Essie, a timeless gray shade. The Burberry nail polish in Steel Grey is a nice transition color and doesn’t make Amber miss the bright pinks of summer, at all.

As the weather gets cooler, we find ourselves reaching for our chapstick more than ever. Steph can’t live without Australia’s version of Aquaphor – Lucas’ Papaw Ointment, which comes in a tube that can last you a whole season.

Alexis loves rocking dark lips in the fall. The perfect compliment to any shade of grey, this Nars lip color in “Liv” is a deep rouge blend that pairs perfectly with any fall outfit.
