Temperatures are now at freezing levels so we’ve officially accepted that it is winter. For those of us in the Northeast, we’re still awaiting our first official snow, but our Chicago gals are already hunkering down for the season. In case you haven’t heard, we’ll be launching Bitches Who Brunch Chicago soon so stay tuned for Windy City brunch coverage! Sign up here for the launch announcement and to subscribe to NYC, DC, or Chicago … or all three!
Just because there is an impending Polar Vortex (again!!!), there’s no excuse not to look chic. Transitional light knits are replaced with puffer vests and luxe cashmere gloves. This month we’re lusting after cozy textures such as shearling, faux fur, and tweed. It may be the cloudy skies and fact that it’s becoming dark at an increasingly depressing hour, but we’re drawn towards black and gray tones in our November Fashion Menu palette.
Though she’s not normally a fan of shearling, Head Bitch in Charge Cori Sue is considering snapping up this Sherpa moto jacket, in a cozy grey and white, from Generation Love.
Taking the grey-and-white theme into outerwear, Cori Sue is loving the BB Dakota Axen hooded coat, a draped, hooded boucle coat with a leather tie. Also by BB Dakota, DC Baby Bitch Amanda will be staying warm in this faux fur coat while running holiday errands around town.
Chicago Social Bitch Amber is looking forward to braving the weather for holiday shopping wearing this wool cape with classic red & black buffalo check from C. Wonder. Bitch in the City Ally is also aboard the cape trend, with her eyes on this flattering Nasty Gal cape dress that is perfect for seasonal festivities.
There is nothing quite like pairing a gray day with a chunky, oversized sweater. Bitch in the City Emily lives in this heather nickel turtleneck from J.Crew made with warm Italian wool. Amanda will be snapping up this cozy Joie shawl-neck cardigan just in time for lounging around the house on Thanksgiving Day. She also loves the idea of contrasting this sweet JOA bow-adorned sweater with skinny leather pants.
The Bitches all plan to don cozy tunic tops with leggings or skinnies for an easy breezy wintertime look. Amber sees herself wearing this 100% Cashmere Everlane Tunic on a regular rotation this season. With the right accessories, this look can go from casual to classy faster than you can hail an Uber! DC Social Bitch Annie loves this Lou & Grey textured tunic for that post-Thanksgiving dinner nap.
Annie can’t wait to dress up this Long Sleeve Wrap Playsuit from TopShop for a night out. Pairs great with tights, booties, and a statement jacket like this swoon-worthy Alice & Olivia number topping Ally’s Christmas list.
This Alexis skirt’s festive metallic tweed and lady-like length makes it Amanda’s go-to pick for all her holiday fetes. For a sassy, unique alternative, try these sheer pleated pants by Nasty Gal, currently coveted by Ally.
Faux leather leggings are our favorite way to stay warm and stylish this winter; this Ann Taylor pair is less than $100! Annie pairs them with black booties and a gray knit sweater for luxurious comfort.
We’re also loving that the cult-favorite Wunder Under leggings by Lululemon are now available with a stirrup leg and second skin fit. Ally and Emily have been frequenting Pure Barre classes in NYC and these tights are perfect to go from our favorite barre classes to out on the town; the stirrup keeps the leggings snug under riding boots.
Grip your peppermint hot chocolate this season in faux fur mittens! Lined in cashmere and finished with a genuine leather palm, these are Amber’s definition of a fashionable winter accessory.
This black Dagne Dover mini tote has a thoughtful, clean design, durable canvas for all weather, and keeps Emily super organized through all of her seasons.
Cori Sue can’t get enough of Loeffler Randall’s shearling mini bag and backpack, in charming wintry grey-and-white. She’s also lusting after bucket bags–with tassels no less!– like this adorable grey leather bag from Elizabeth & James. Three of Ally’s friends have already purchased this Old Navy bucket bag; it looks expensive and is a low cost way to try out the trend.
Lasercut detailing gives this foldover leather clutch instant edge. You will spot this under Amanda’s arm on her next girls’ night out on the town.
Emily loves these toasty shearling booties from Tory Burch, which may not be practical for the wet snow coming in December, but keep her toes toasty on cold weather days. These Sole Society wedges are an adorable, budget-friendly option for the shearling footwear trend.
Dashing through the snow isn’t so bad when you’re wearing cute boots! Amber’s always a fan of the Sperry Top-Sider for J.Crew collections, especially in this warm Ivory hue.
We’ll be taking short breaks from boots with ever-beloved sneaks. Emily loves this textured, pony hair black Superga sneaker to spice up her casual winter wardrobe. Ally will be sporting these black leather Converse Chuck Taylors for a comfy look with an edge.
The Bitches love dainty necklaces for this time of year that are perfectly tucked under infinity scarves and turtlenecks. BaubleBar has a chic variety of styles like this initial bar pendant and this delicate wishbone pendant.
If you haven’t already, it’s time to retire your summer makeup! Amber keeps her face glowing in winter temperatures with this Snow Bunny Luminous Bronzer from Too Faced.
Amber can’t wait to coat herself in this luxurious limited edition of her favorite winter moisturizer. The Creme de Corps Soy Milk and Honey Whipped Body Butter from Kiehl’s is Norman Rockwell themed and gives back to Feeding America. A winter win-win!
Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizer has been Ally’s beauty staple since junior high and she ups her usage as temperatures drop. For an extra boost, keep your skin from getting dry and chapped in the cold weather with Clinique’s Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief moisturizer.
Below are our top picks to keep us warm and winter-ready this November:
