The Fashion Menu: January

Do you have that winter glow yet? The temps have bumped up just a tad since the Polar Vortex, so we think a balmy 40-ish degrees is perfect weather to flaunt your winter style.

This month, we’re loving warm, cozy fashions in creams and muted neutrals. Comfy sweaters, warm scarves—even cocktail dresses in winter white! Never one to miss out on a little edge, we’re pairing our winter neutrals with edgy leather leggings.

Plus, we have plenty of beauty recommendations to keep your skin moist and your cheeks rosy. Click on the images below the post for more information on (and to purchase!) each.

Bitch in the City Emily lives in her cozy, grey oversized poncho from Anthropologie in colder months, and appreciates its versatility; paired with leather leggings and booties, it’s perfect for a casual night out for dinner with her guy. Meanwhile. Cori Sue, a huge fan of ponchos, opted for a similar style in a lovely winter white.

Although New Year’s Eve has come and gone, Bitch in the City Ally knows that the sequined Etta pump by J. Crew will add some shimmer in her step to get her through the long winter months. Her City counterpart, Emily, feels the same and glams things up with sparkly stockings from Club Monaco, adding a subtle shimmer to any party look.

Both girls are keeping sporty with cozy winterwear. Emily can’t live without her Patagonia half-zip fleece, which keeps her cozy on the slopes and doubles as her go-to loungewear for any winter weekend. Ally is tackling her New Year’s resolutions in a cozy white Lululemon Bhakti Yoga jacket, which is perfect for bundling up post-barre class.

“Safety in the front, all danger in the back,” is how DC Baby Bitch Deidre describes the LOFT Mixed Chevron Sheer Striped Sweater. Versatile-yet-fun, and sexy-yet-appropriate, this sweater is the perfect choice for a fun night out on the town, even in the cold.

Paired with leather leggings, a high bun, and a bold lip, the ASOS Faux Fur Snood adorns Baby Bitch Deidre’s shoulders, bringing high drama to an otherwise drab winter wardrobe.

Never one to turn down a fit-and-flair frock, Becca is lusting after white-and-gold tweed dresses, paired with black tights, black pumps, and a cardigan to take her from work to a lovely dinner date with her beau.

The bitter chill of January lends itself to extra muffs, mittens, and scarves, which means you have a lot more baggage to schlep around with you in the city. Bitch in the City Emily loves the functional yet fashionable Dagne Dover tote, which has enough compartments for all of her cold weather activities.

Business Bitch Emily’s obsession with winter whites extends from head to toe with her amazing Ray-Ban shades. And, she’s toting the Rebecca Minkoff MAB bag all this month, which is large enough to stow her moccasins, woolly socks, and scarves in during happy hour.

All the Bitches are loving cozy, comfy infinity scarves paired with a slew of ensembles. The J.Crew chevon scarf is a stylish-yet-simple necessity in any winter wardrobe. With the perfect combination of texture and warmth it is the perfect final touch for Bitch in the City’s Emily’s ultimate layered ensemble. Meanwhile, Social Bitch Amanda Jean loves a solid cream version from Ann Taylor Loft.

While we’re keeping sparkles on our pretty paws, the Bitches are doing everything in our power to keep our faces moisturized, our pouts pretty, and our cheeks rosy.

There is something about nail sparkle that brings life back to those ghost-like hands. Bitch in the City Emily loves the newest encrusted collection by Essie, and frequently uses Ignite the Night silver sparkle polish to complement her go-to Cashmere Bathrobe grey nail color.

Cori Sue swears by Kiehls products and is stocking up on extra face cream—as well as switching to Sugar’s advanced therapy lip balm to keep her lips moist. And, while it may seem counterintuitive to apply oil to your face, we Bitches think that facial serums are the BB and CC creams of 2013. Bitch in the City Ally recommends Josie Maran’s 100 percent pure Argan oil, which acts a triple threat on skin, hair, and nails.

A fan of eco-friendly beauty products, Cori Sue is opting for peachy pink shades by tarte on her cheeks and lips.

A year-round favorite of Baby Bitch Deidre’s, Mac’s Boy Bait is the perfect nude lip gloss to throw on for a little bit of glam on those dreary winter days. And if you happen to be wondering—yes, the name rings to be true!
