I made my way to Dupont Circle for lunch at The Chickery on a lovely Saturday afternoon. I was headed to try the RFC (rotisserie fried chicken) sandwich which is now back on the menu. I’ve always passed by this restaurant and thought to myself that I should check it out, but I’ve never pulled the trigger.
The fast casual game in Dupont, really in any neighborhood, is competitive these days–Sweetgreen, Beefsteak, Cava, &pizza, and Shake Shack are all within a two block radius. I’m happy to report that The Chickery is my personal new favorite fast casual spot in Dupont, and maybe even my favorite fried chicken–and that’s saying something.
The fried chicken was unbelievable. You could truly taste that this was specifically rotisserie chicken. The chicken was hot, juicy, and moist. The fried goodness was super crispy–but didn’t cut the roof of your mouth–and well seasoned. The Cajun Ranch was delicious and the perfect pairing to this mouth-watering masterpiece. It was creamy, but had a hint of a kick. The perfectly melted cheddar pulled all of the flavors together well.
Everything was delicious at The Chickery. Their fried chicken beats that of many high-end restaurants in D.C. Head here for affordable and high-quality, tasty fried chicken and fries that are not to be missed.
