I can hardly believe that it’s officially patio brunch season. My puffer jacket is packed away, Bean boots buried in the back of my tiny closet, and our apartment management has finally shut off the hissing heat poles. Now we’re frolicking the city streets with fresh pedicures and tubs of froyo. Long live spring.
Restaurants have flung open their windows and dusted off their outdoor bistro tables to prepare for the influx of sun-seeking diners. Patio, rooftop, and sidewalk seating is at a premium so grab your sunnies and ideally a rezzie. We’ve compiled a list of our favorite patio brunches here.
Gemma in the Bowery Hotel is one of our favorite sceney brunch patios. The best nights start with espresso martinis in the Bowery Hotel and we awarded Gemma with the “best place to see and be seen” award in our 2014 Best & Worst awards. It’s high end and hip, but not inaccessible, and the food delivers. We loved the baked eggs and banana bread, but the spacious front patio is the primary highlight. Since Gemma is quite trendy, we’d pair our eggs Benny with some of our top spring looks such as fringe, wicker, and tropical prints. Top a light, swingy shift dress with some edgy leather and comfortable slides for an outfit to take you from brunch to bopping down Bowery.
