A great brunch can be an all-day affair, so start your morning in style over croissants and champagne. We’re excited to unveil our newest fashion column, Side of Style, where we will pair on-trend outfits with our favorite local brunch spots. Our fashion picks are inspired by the ambiance and neighborhood of the eateries giving you no excuse to brunch in sweatpants. Unless they’re harem-style and sold at Bloomies. Side of Style assembles the perfect ensemble for our favorite local brunch spots, leaving you armed and ready to walk out the door.
With its stunning, storied courtyard hung with wisteria and grapevines, Iron Gate reminds us of the secret garden—only with great wine. The charming upscale establishment is built into a carriageway from a former inn that dates back to the Civil War. The restaurant is located just off Dupont Circle, and we’d suggest wearing a flowy, floral ensemble to sip mimosas or white wine in the courtyard and celebrate (mourn) the end of summer.
Our favorite dish at brunch at Iron Gate was the baked hen eggs, beef and veal meatballs, and tomato and Burrata cheese. The doughnut holes and phyllo-wrapped custard were also phenomenal. Ask for a seat outside, of course. (Read the review here)
