Side of Style DC: El Rey

Built out of bright, primary-colored shipping containers, El Rey is a quirky, bright, and fun Mexican spot on U Street. The bar and taqueria serves up delicious cocktails morning, noon, and night—with mimosas, margaritas, and micheladas as a few of your options.

So, grab a friend and sit under the string lights and piñatas on the patio sipping bottomless mimosas. And if it’s a nice day, they’ll open the roof with the click of a button (amazing!)

For brunch followed by an afternoon out-and-about on U Street, we’d rock a go-to summer staple—a denim romper —with some stylish, quirky accessories. We’re loving palm prints, so we’d tie one on with a palm print turban from Cult Gaia. Along with hoop earrings and a straw bucket bag, this look is reminiscent of a 1960s bathing beauty on the Mayan Riviera.  A bright lip pulls it all together—don’t forget to reapply after that third mimosa—we recommend Butter London lip pencils which are smooth and easy-to-apply.

Cheers to a little midday summer fiesta in the city, Bitches.
