It is finally starting to feel like winter in Chicago. Despite the dropping temperatures, we are still venturing out of the house for brunch, of course.

Currently, we are obsessed with the much buzzed-about new Wicker Park spot, Cafe Robey inside the chic new Robey Hotel. Cafe Robey serves French-American fare, with breakfast being served everyday, making it the perfect spot for midweek meetings, or weekend brunch with friends.

Just because it is starting to get cold in Chicago, it doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice dressing cute. So while we will be piling on the layers thanks to heavy winter jackets and wool scarves, underneath we are trying to stay as chic as we can for as long as possible.

Cafe Robey’s restaurant space is beautifully lit thanks to the huge windows that face the street on both sides of the corner where it is located, which means for lots of sunlight. Despite how cold it actually is outside, inside of Cafe Robey you will not have the slightest idea if the sun is shining; unless of course there is snow on the ground.

Cafe Robey is a beautiful modern space, so on a recent work meeting over breakfast, I decided to dress up for the occasion, especially considering I was meeting to gals who are both stylists—no pressure! I love the idea of a cute mini dress underneath a leather jacket or a long trench coat.

I am a big fan of floral prints currently, and I am loving anything with ruffles or bell sleeves. This ruffled and printed chiffon mini dress is everything. I discovered it on ShopBop, and I just love the rich red color that is perfect for fall, and the v-neck cut and long sleeves are some extra details that I adore.

The perfect way to style a mini dress in fall is with a pair of over-the-knee boots. While I am all for the high-heeled OTK boots, for a dress up or dress down look, I am keen on boots with a small heel, like these grey Steve Madden Boots. They work great with mini dresses as well as with jeans or leggings. I like to keep accessories to minimum, especially with a dress that already has so much going on.

Opting for simple hoop earrings is never a mistake, in my opinion. I like these hammered hoops from Nordstrom, that add little more texture to the metal. Another must-have for this outfit is my current fall style obsession, the cabby hat. As I recently shared in my latest Lust List fashion post, I think that the cabby hat is a unique way to dress up even the most casual of outfits. Additionally, it adds a chic flare to a dressier outfit. To me, it is the ideal everyday accessory to make even the laissez faire dressers a little more fashionable.

Finally, while I don’t currently have this piece in my jewelry box, I am really hoping someone gifts me it for the upcoming holidays. Heck, I will probably just gift it to myself. Daniel Wellington watches are elegant time pieces that work with casual or formal looks. I am loving this watch in gold. It is simple, but stylish, and we be an accessory to wear for years to come.
