Recap: WCP Best of D.C.

We gathered with D.C.’s best and brightest creatives for Washington City Paper’s annual Best of D.C. celebration at the Carnegie Library. Special thanks to our lovely readers for voting Bitches Who Brunch as reader’s choice best food blog! We are honored!

We sipped and taste tasted items from some of our favorite establishments (and some fellow Reader’s Choice champs) including The Pub and the People (Best Neighborhood Bar), District Doughnut (Best Doughnut), Ice Cream Jubilee (Best Ice Cream) and Fair Winds Brewing Company (Best Local Brewery). It was great to see nods in the staff picks categories for spots we love like Hazel (Best New Restaurant), Ripple (Best Tasting Menu), Columbia Room (Best Bar to Blow Your 401k), and more.

We loved trying Cotton & Reed’s new all-spice rum, which just launched this past weekend. We stopped by a neat button-making station offered by the Smithsonian American Art Museum among other interactive displays. Some of our favorite brunch spots were well-represented in the awards too, like The Bird (Reader’s Choice Best New Restaurant), Zaytinya (Reader’s Choice Best Middle Eastern), and Lavagna (Reader’s Choice Best Italian).

The highlight of our evening included fantastic performances from the brass band. Not to mention, the DJ playing our favorite hits. The Best of D.C. party is a great spot to taste test the best that the District has to offer, and to discover your new favorites. Find all of the WCP’s annual awards winners here.
