Last night, Guest of a Guest kicked off what will be a very busy and very stylish month of September with a fashionable party for those featured in its best dressed column, known as “Becca’s Picks” as they are selected by—gasp—a different Becca, Becca Thorsen, Guest of a Guest’s fashion columnist.
The event was held at Alton Lane’s very dapper, masculine showroom in Dupont Circle. The showroom, built into a row house, is decorated with leather couches, a charming, masculine wooden bar, and plenty of plaid.
Guests chatted, sipped rose, red wine and whiskey and nibbled on passed appetizers. The evening culminated with a presentation by Becca Thorsen, dressed in a red Alice + Olivia form-fitting sheath dress with peplum at the waist.
Becca highlighted what’s hot for fall for men from Alton Lane: tweed, updated navy blazers, a traditional men’s overcoat, and thick oatmeal cords. And, she picked her favorite fashions for fall for the ladies from Urban Chic: leather, tailored, form-fitting looks and lots of red.
Becca also announced her selections for best dressed: Max Kirshenbaum for men and Lauren Wynns for women. Miss Wynns, who looked chic in leather shorts, back suede pumps and a silk tuxedo blazer, is one-half of the fabulous local style blog Necessary & Proper.
Necessary & Proper chronicles Lauren & Van’s preppy ensembles and exploits across the East Coast, more particularly: Washington, Palm Beach and the Hamptons. I’ll be brunching with them next weekend so look out for stories of a necessary-and-proper-yet-Bitchy brunch.
The fashion events keep coming … we’re co-hosting Fashion Night Out at Urban Chic tomorrow (Thursday) in Georgetown. Please do stop by, say hello, get some shopping done, and—best of all—get sketched by the phenomenal Insleey Haynes. After all, the evening was named one of Guest of a Guest Becca’s Picks for FNO.
