On the north side of Chicago is an adorable neighborhood I wish I had more time to frequent: Andersonville. This little neighborhood is brimming with adorable restaurants, bars, and shops and every time I am there, I always remark that I need to spend more time in this neighborhood. This weekend, I had my chance to not only enjoy the neighborhood, but also some strong bourbon libations, courtesy of Elixir Lounge.
Elixir is a small, quaint, and cute cocktail lounge with small bites and happens to be attached to Replay Andersonville, where Alexis and I enjoyed brunch in 2015.
On Saturday, my friends Christine and Ali accompanied me to this cocktail class where we learned how to make three signature bourbon cocktails: a Whiskey Smash, an Old Fashioned, and a Gold Rush.
From muddling strawberries, to measuring simple syrup, Ali, Christine, and I created and tried the three cocktails on the menu. Being a big bourbon fan, I loved them all! Some of them were fruity and sweet, while others were smoky and bold—a perfect way to say goodbye to summer and to welcome in fall with open arms!
Another cocktail class is happening this Saturday, September 10th. Tickets are $25 per person for the class, and can be purchased, here.
