In June, we hosted an epic neon summer brunch party with the two gentlemen behind Raise DC, Brendan and Ryan, at our favorite 14th Street spot, Policy.
Raise DC is a benefit events organization that hosts killer parties in the district for local causes.  Each event rotates between a DC venue, artist(s), and, most importantly, local beneficiary who receives all profits.

More than 120 of you brunching Bitches and Bros turned up in your best neon, enjoying Policy’s delicious brunch and dancing the day away before continuing the party through the gay pride parade and into the evening.

After punishing some French toast, bacon and eggs, and a few rounds of Bloody Marys and mimosas, we all headed upstairs. Upstairs, DJ Kryogen spun remixed hits “from the 90s and today.” Dolci Gelati, our favorite gelateria, scooped up alcoholic gelato in the flavors of mimosa, limoncello, and—wait for it—Blue Moon. It tasted exactly like Blue Moon. The good lookin’ gents behind Whistle Pig Rye served whiskey shots and old fashioneds for the gents.

One of the most fun components was a photo booth with plenty of props by Sarah & Samantha, two ladies who provide this silly and sassy service for weddings and events.

The party benefited DC Greens, formerly DC Farm-to-School which works to bridge the gap in our local food system by bringing fresh local vegetables into DC public school cafeterias, and creating school gardens, farmers markets, and other education initiatives. Essentially, DC Greens is supporting the local community, combating childhood obesity,  making public school lunches healthier, and expanding access to healthy, affordable food for all.

– Pick up some Whistle Pig Rye to make an Old Fashioned of your own.

– Party with Raise DC yet again at their One Year Celebration. The party is happening this Friday at 10 p.m. at Malmaison, 3401 K Street N.W., in Georgetown. It benefits 8 charitable organizations, including DC Greens, and will feature live DJ beats, event coverage, and sceney snaps from Guest of a Guest, and another photo booth from Sarah & Samantha.
