Recap: Beads for Hope

It’s gala season in Chicago, and the Bitches not only love to brunch, but also love to give back.

A couple weeks ago, Sarah from Red Frog Events asked if the Bitches would donate an item to the Beads For Hope gala’s silent auction. The event raises money for the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

We jumped at the chance to give back and presented Sarah with a “Brunch with the Bitches” certificate, good for a brunch for two with the Chicago Bitches! Stay tuned in the next couple months for the brunch review with the lucky winners.

But, of course, we also attended the soiree in style. Who would turn down a chance to dress up? Not this Bitch! The gala took place on Mardi Gras, and was aptly themed all things purple, green, and gold.

Deciding what to wear is always an ordeal, but Rent The Runway has never failed me. A glittery dress, statement earrings, and a faux-snakeskin clutch were all I needed to look and feel fabulous.

It was a vibrant evening, expertly emceed by Whitney Reynolds from The Whitney Reynolds Show, which airs on PBS in Chicago. The crowd as also in awe when the gala’s special guest, Amy, took the stage and shared her amazing story on how St. Jude’s changed her life.

The evening was filled with bidding on items at the silent auction, eating the Cajun buffet, getting silly in the photobooth, and remembering that 100 percent of all proceeds went back to St. Jude’s.
