Preview: W Hotel Yoga Brunch

The only thing more basic than a bunch of girls at Sunday brunch is a bunch of girls at Sunday brunch in athleisure following their visit to a boutique fitness class. Well, consider me the most basic Bitch of all because I love that stuff. And I also love taking selfies while doing it.

We were invited to preview the W Hotel‘s new #DetoxRetoxRepeat yoga and brunch. I knew just who to invite: Ashley, my beautiful gal pal who loves yoga, brunch and Snapchat just as much as I do. (P.S. As this was a blogger event, the space was filled with beautiful 20-somethings on their cell phones and the W pulled out all the stops, outfitting us with “Detox, Retox Repeat” tanks and filling our gift bags with fun stuff and sparkling SmartWater. As a basic Bitch, I was thrilled to discover they now make sparkling SmartWater.

Set to a live DJ, the yoga class was sufficiently challenging, particularly for this gal who has to be forced to relax and take some “me time.” Then, we made our way to preview the new brunch menu while taking in gorgeous sunny views of the National Mall. (Read our old review here.)


The brunch is ordered a la carte, and we began with cocktails, opting for classic mimosas. That said, the W Hotel brunch will offer an array of creative cocktails in case you’re looking to get wild and weird.

We sampled the fresh fruit salad, bonus points for pineapple and melon balls, as well as the light mixed greens.


Several of the W’s brand new brunch dishes were available, most notably the savory duck egg hash and the crab cakes. The hash was a hearty dish, with a base of potatoes, vegetables and shredded duck meat topped with beautifully fried eggs. While this isn’t normally a dish I’d order, I enjoyed sampling it and I appreciated the unique, well executed offerings.


The crab cakes were a real treat, as they were jumbo lump and served in the classic fashion with a corn salad and a Mayonnaise based Remoulade.


Lastly, the French toast was delectable, with its moist blocks of fluffy breading, roasted apples, and Maple syrup. I love it when French toast is soaked to ensure it’s anything but dry and boring. Bravo, W Hotel!


We’re looking forward to heading back to the W for an official brunch—the #DetoxRetoxRepeat brunch takes place Sundays on the roof of the hotel beginning this week!
