Oh, Valentine’s Day. It’s my favorite holiday—the pink, the love notes, the chocolates, the champagne, the lurve. I’m a girly girl and I am unashamed of my unabashed love for this Hallmark holiday.
As the East Coast was experiencing frigid temperatures for much of February, I’ve been holed up working remotely—and spending as much time as possible with friends in cozy indoor spaces.
The Saturday before Valentine’s Day, I wanted to throw a casual pajama brunch for some girlfriends—inside. We’d brunch in, with the help of a quick delivery from OrderAhead, a new delivery app in the DC area.
I joined forces with my friend Tristin, the consummate hostess, to throw a Valentine’s Day brunch and afternoon of arts and crafts. We gathered our girlfriends, dressed in their most festive pink pajamas—mine were heart long johns—and cozied up for an afternoon of junk food, movies, and valentines crafting.
Tristin pulled together quite the spread—as she always does. Her beautiful apartment was decorated to the nines with a vintage Valentine themed postcards and hearts on the wall.
As this was casual fete, we used paper plates and napkins, in red-and-white hearts, of course. And, as it is Valentine’s Day, Bellinis were our beverage of choice.
We used OrderAhead to bring us brunch from Matchbox—because a pizza party is perfect for when you’re making valentines in your pajamas. Clearly, we were feeling nostalgic for our younger days, because we also threw Dirty Dancing up on the teevee.
We ordered three types of pizzas: the chicken pesto, the meatball, and the breakfast pizza.
I go crazy for the meatball pizza—there’s little more satisfying in my book. Spicy, yummy meatballs plopped atop a thin-crust cheese pizza. Most of the ladies were wild about the chicken pesto pizza.
The menu offers only one breakfast pizza, which is Southwestern themed. The thin-crust pizza had sausage, salmon, onions, peppers, scrambled eggs and sour cream. It was delicious and unique—and still hot when it arrived.
This was definitely no healthy day, so we also chowed down on warm ooey-gooey cinnamon rolls and spent the afternoon making valentines for the loved ones in our lives.
It’s still frigid, so if you’d like to order brunch in, download OrderAhead, here, and use the code “BWBDC” for a discount. Tweet or instagram at the Bitches with the hashtag #bringmebrunch and we’ll share your posts.
