A monochromatic, all-white ensemble is very chic, but it can also be very intimidating to pull off. Between red wine, dirty metros, lunch at your desk, and pets, it’s not the most practical canvas to work with, but we believe in you. Because there’s just something about warm weather, tan skin, and sun-kissed hair that makes this such a crisp, eye-catching look.
This season, my equation for the perfect white ensemble goes like this: light-weight pants, a classic top with subtle design details, comfortable heels, and an accessory (or two) that pops.
I find that I’ve been opting for wide leg linen trousers, like the ones here. They are chic, breezy, and incredibly comfortable. Perfect for a night on the patio with friends and a bottle of wine. Pairing them with a more fitted top, like this ribbed tank with a subtle ruffle sleeve, gives the outfit shape and doesn’t make it look ill fitting.
I live in heels, but in the summer it takes a very special occasion (read: wedding) to get me to commit to wearing them. I’ve found a happy medium in block heels, like these navy ones from Betsy Fisher—a fun, women-led boutique in Dupont Circle—which also happen to be on sale! The shoes are slip-on, block heels, so they dress up the outfit while embodying the ease of summer fashion.
Betsy Fisher is having her summer sale for the next two weeks—so drop by the Dupont Circle boutique between your meetings. It’s located at 1221 Connecticut Avenue, conveniently between Shake Shack and Aveda. Because we all need a some beauty, accessories, and burgers midday.
Adding a pop of color via conversation-starter accessories, like this Kate Spade sombrero and taco necklace, is a whimsical way to punch up the look. This pendant necklace is like wearing a fiesta around your neck! Paired with an all white outfit or a fun, Bohemian maxi dress, it screams summer in every way.
