Gran Tivoli is fairly new having landed in Nolita earlier this year. The elegant space offers Italian and Mediterranean fare. The stunning interior channels timeless with sleek leather booths and natural tones, while the menu keeps it fresh and unexpected. By timeless, we actually mean it in a good way, as opposed to kitschy restaurants popping up for the gram.
We promptly began with a round of cocktails and iced coffees. Gran Tivoli has an expansive menu for brunch from fresh green juices and spritzes to antipasti, mediums, and mains. Even the vegetarian dishes are rather unique.
We ordered the Brunch Bicicleta and a Pink Lady for our cocktails. The pink lady was light and tart, just how I like it. The cocktail calls for calvados, gin, pomegranate, egg white, and a touch of lemon. The Bicicleta was rather refreshing with passion fruit, white wine, and aperitivo cappelletti.
Crushed lime avocado on toast arrived first. The tangy and mashed avocado came on top of thick cut sourdough with sumac and some greens. The toast itself was a bit too crispy to cut into but tasted just fine.
A brain food bowl came next and channeled healthy upon arrival. The vibrant bowl was stunning and included a variety of things from warm turmeric rice, lime avocado, sprouted seeds, kimchi sauerkraut, sumac boiled eggs, and raw beetroot and carrot. The rice was our favorite part but everything together made it divine.
We couldn’t leave without digging into the Raspberry & Cacao pancakes. These were delectable and rather unique. The pancakes come equipped with banana, cinnamon, coconut chantilly along with raspberry and cacao shavings. Truthfully, these didn’t need maple syrup to add any additional flavor as they were wonderful as it is.
Besides the food and cocktails, we’re pleased to report service itself was exceptional as well. We left rather pleased, next time we would opt not to choose any traditional brunch items and stick to trying something different and unexpected.
