We’ve finally defrosted from an epically weird winter season and are embracing spring in New York City with plenty of outdoor activity. We’ve been waiting with baited breath for long walks in Central Park, dates with our running buddies along the West Side Highway, and of course, plenty of patio brunches.

From DC to Chicago, the Bitches have teamed up with Jawbone to help keep our fitness and wellness goals on track throughout the year. We love the versatility of the app and the sleek design of the fitness trackers; it fits right in with our bracelet stacks!

Between sampling ClassPass sessions and running around at my PR job, I know I keep a really active lifestyle. Getting enough steps and physical activity isn’t much of a worry of mine outside of those days when I don’t leave my desk or I’m stuck on an airplane for business travel.

However, I’m a total insomniac and will do pretty much anything for a solid night’s sleep. I’ve tried everything from meditation, essential oils, overdoses of magnesium, and a big glass of red wine to knock me out. Thus, I was particularly intrigued by Jawbone UP’s sleep tracking capabilities.

I have the UP3 model, which automatically tracks your sleep based on your body’s natural cues rather than you needing to tap or log sleep manually. Every morning, I sync up my app to see how many hours I slept compared to my recommended goal. I particularly love the custom tips from my Jawbone coach in-app to increase the quality of my sleep, it can even tell if I’m hydrated enough!

Since I recently returned from a few months over in Asia, getting my sleep schedule back on track was of upmost importance. My Jawbone UP was essential to regulating my healthy routine and fighting jet lag as I dove headfirst right back into life in New York City.

When it comes to spring fitness fashion, I’m all about breathable layers and a lighter palette. Some mesh paneling or strategic cutouts, like my new favorite pair of Nike Air Force Ones, are both fashionable and functional as the weather warms up. I’ve traded in my black leather kicks and puffy vests for more lightweight footwear and cotton wraps.

Emily and I both love a funky workout legging and I’m particularly drawn to bold, big floral patterns to channel the season. Now that athleisure is socially acceptable, we can rock our favorite sweats to our go-to healthy brunch spots. We’re big fans of the acai bowls from Two Hands in Nolita and Dimes in Chinatown (read our brunch review of Two Hands here; our brunch review of Dimes here) and pretty much any egg bowl at Egg Shop. Another draw of the Jawbone is it syncs with other popular apps like MyFitnessPal to give you a more holistic look into your lifestyle. You can track your meals to hold you accountable if you’ve been hitting the pastry basket too hard or indulging in one too many mimosas.

New York City is a mecca for fitness fanatics. And that, my friends, is what I am. A two-a-day gym sesh at Equinox coupled with a work outing to SoulCycle is normal here, and I love everything about it. The city helped me find fitness beyond my four mile running loop. I discovered an obsession for Barry’s Bootcamp, a family in Achilles International, and a passion for marathons. I’ve connected with new friends who share my crazy tendencies and old friends who put up with my crazy tendencies. It’s been one crazy (sweaty) ride.

Anyone who knows me knows I’m incredibly competitive in most aspects of my life. From eyeballing to the treadmills to my left and right to aiming to beat my PR at each race, I love a healthy level of competition. Enter: my addiction to my Jawbone UP.

My Jawbone not only keeps me honest if I’m being a work-chair potato, but it gives me daily goals and facilitates better life choices. When I’m thinking about hailing a cab to get to brunch ten blocks away, I catch a glint from my Jawbone in the city sunshine and re-think walking. I can compete with friends on steps (unfair when I’m marathon training!), and compete with myself on my activity level throughout the day.

Another thing I love about the Jawbone is it keeps me honest with the amount of sleep I’m actually getting in a night. I can’t tout an eight-hour sleep schedule if my Jawbone tells me I’ve tossed and turned for two hours! It’s been really interesting to see what triggers a bad night of sleep and I’ve really enjoyed getting the extra insight into my nighttime hours.

The best part about the Jawbone is that I’m not sacrificing style. With the rose gold detailing and subtle black band, it fits in perfectly with my other arm bangles. Fitness fashion is important to me, as I spend half of my time commuting to various classes or athletic events. When the gym became a social event, I was forced to swap my sorority college tees with something slightly more on-trend.

Joggers (i.e. “fancy sweats”) are my new best friend, and I’m obsessed with Sol Angeles’s effortless, comfy clothing. Graphic tees make a statement and keep things casual, and I always keep a fresh shirt in my lulu gym bag should an unexpected plan pop up post-gym. Obviously, the Rose shirt featured here is the best for Sunday morning brunches! I’m also a big sneaker person, and I love any excuse to wear my high tops out and about.
