D.C. National Doughnut Day Guide

We Bitches go nuts for doughnuts in the District. Big, small, frosted, or glazed, we’ll have them all.

What we love most about these rounds of gloriously fried dough, however, is their versatility. Late for work? Take your doughnut on the run with a pick-me-up of coffee to start the day. In need of a sweet treat post-dinner? A doughnut is the just the thing.

Thankfully, D.C. has no shortage of our favorite treat. We’ve sampled them all and are sharing all the sweet details.

Keep your eyes peeled for their food truck roving the streets bringing their deliciousness to the people. Read our review of Astro’s brunch delivered by OrderAhead here.

District Doughnuts

While many D.C. residents head The Hill to get in on some political action, we side-step the ideological gridlock and head straight to District Doughnuts. These handcrafted rounds of love come in a variety of enticing flavors like decadent Dulce de Leche, PB & J, and blueberry and almond cream. These doughnuts are one thing all Washingtonians can agree on.

Another area joint perfecting our favorite culinary combination of doughnuts and fried chicken is GBD. Their initials stand for golden, brown, and delicious, and there is no better name for this Dupont Circle gem. Take your doughnuts and bird to go or stay a while and indulge on their doughnut chicken sandwich, The Luther. Read our review of GBD brunch here and dinner thanks to OrderAhead here.
