Chicago’s Best Vegetarian/Vegan Brunches
by Kirsten Ballard
It’s no secret that Chicago loves meat. It’s ingrained in the history of the city, from the famous red-boothed steakhouses to Abe Froman, the “sausage king of Chicago” in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. So what’s a vegetarian to do? We found the best brunch options for vegans and vegetarians, sure to please the whole group.
No Bones Beach Club
This Wicker Park restaurant is entirely vegan, and you’d never know. No Bones could fool even the most veggie-averse person into enjoying a vegan brunch. Even better than the inclusive menu are the delicious and strong tiki drinks. We have no bone to pick with them. Read our review here.

Sunda
While not strictly veg-only, Sunda’s “new Asian” has an expansive vegan and vegetarian menu, completely separate from the usual offerings. From shiitake dumplings to vegan sushi rolls, Sunda has expunged the idea that vegan brunch is boring or impossible. They’re also a great option if you have members of your party who can’t have gluten. We were blown away by the table side mimosas, which are perfect for uniting herbivores and carnivores alike. The Diner
When other restaurants were pushing t-bone steaks and power suits in the 80s, The Diner has been meat-free since ‘83. This vegan paradise serves up soul food without a lick of meat. They have some vegetarian options, but everything can be made completely vegan. It’s the OG and worth a visit for the poutine and burgers.

Bad Hunter
This hip and trendy, new-ish restaurant boasts that it’s a “shrine to vegetables.” And we’re here to worship. With delicious options like soy-rizo burritos and squash quesadillas, Bad Hunter makes vegetables fun and funky. They have a nice selection of dishes that can be prepared vegan too.

Daisies
Daisies is one of our favorite brunches this year. Known for their homemade pasta and farm-to-table values, Daisies offers a great brunch for non-meat-eaters. We loved the polenta waffle and fried perogies. Scratch that, we loved everything. Daisies is amazing. Read the review here.
