Oh, how I love a brunch burger. Especially after a long run. There’s nothing about justified gluttony to start your Sunday.
On this particular weekend, marathon training was winding down, calories were winding up, and I had the shaky, food-depleted weirds. Black Tap reached out to the Bitches and invited us into try their new menu, which came at a totally perfect time.
I know Black Tap from the snaking lunch lines in Soho on weekdays, and was thrilled they were entering the world of brunch while retaining the core of their menu – burgers. We arrived and were surprised to see no line, though it was early (11:30 a.m.) for Soho.
We took a seat at the bar, which is pretty much your only seating option at Black Tap. I loved that Black Tap paid tribute to a classic diner in its decor, while still adding its own spin with cool iconic art, old school Coca Cola bottles, and some on-brand light up signs. Beats blared through the speakers and we bopped our head to some old school tunes while we decided on our orders.
The menu fit the relaxed vibe. It was simple and made my indecision easy.
We settled on the Super Linda, a Spicy Mexican chorizo burger with an egg and avocado. It had a great spicy sauce, which Paul loved, and a hearty avocado portion, which I loved.
The Croissant Burger, a burger with bacon, egg, Swiss cheese and truffle mayo, was Black Tap’s take on a breakfast sandwich. It was fabulous. The truffle wasn’t overwhelming but added a nice pizazz, and anything on a croissant is my kind of sandwich.
The Bitches say: Five Champagne flutes. For a straightforward brunch centered around delicious, juicy burgers, check out Black Tap.
Black Tap serves brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
