We Bitches can dish up a lot more than just brunch. Most importantly, we all have a sweet tooth that aches at least once a day. When a nibble of chocolate doesn’t crush our cravings, there’s one place we know we can always turn to for a pick-me-up: Magnolia Bakery.
Though Magnolia has yet to install a D.C. shop (fingers crossed!), the New York Bitches are fortunate enough to turn any corner and beeline for the bakery’s unbelievable indulgences. With Magnolia bakeries scattered about the city, we couldn’t help but beam at the opportunity to taste Magnolia’s seasonal collection at their Summer Soirée. Even better? Present at the event was the genius behind Magnolia’s sweet magic, Bobbie Lloyd.
For the past eight years, the beautiful Bobbie Lloyd has worked as Chief Baking Officer of Magnolia Bakery. Between opening the newest Magnolia Bakery in Tokyo and wrapping up her her fourth season as a judge on TLC’s Next Great Baker, Bobbie knows how to balance. She’s also a busy mom, with two lovely children who gush at the sight of her Cake Boss co-star, Buddy Valastro.
Over lemon-blueberry cupcakes and, of course, banana pudding, we caught up with Bobbie on the night of her season premiere. Excited and gracious, Bobbie filled us in on her favorite brunch spots and her time on Next Great Baker.
How was your experience judging contestants alongside Cake Boss star, Buddy Valastro on the fourth season of the hit TLC show, “Next Great Baker?”
Buddy is a lot of fun to work with. He’s been texting me a ton in preparation of the season premiere tonight! And my lips are sealed about the contestants, but Buddy has said he thinks this was the best batch to date.
What’s your favorite brunch dish?
It changes all the time. I can’t say I have a specific dish but what I can say is that I always order something that catches my eye on the menu – something that is so creative I just have to try it.
Mimosas or Bloody Marys?
Mimosas. But this is always dependent on what the night before was like!
We love to find out where the experts like to eat. Where are your favorite spots to get brunch in NYC?
Community and the Cascabel Taqueria.
